Mistfall Hunter Ciphers Guide

TL;DR — “ciphers” in Mistfall Hunter means two different things. (1) Event ciphers — Golden, Ashen, Mantra, Ancestral, and Bloodbound ciphers were drops from the Gylden Rush limited event, which ran only during the June 2026 Open Beta and ended June 22, 2026; they are no longer obtainable, and as of August 2, 2026 there is no announced return. (2) Cipher keys — rare in-game items that still exist at launch, the best-known being the Legendary Dried Flower Knot, which unlocks Einherjar Mode boss hunts.

“Ciphers” appear in these two different places in Mistfall Hunter, and players often search for one meaning and find the other. This page covers both:

  1. Event ciphers — Golden, Ashen, Mantra, Ancestral, and Bloodbound ciphers from the Gylden Rush limited event, which ran during the Open Beta.
  2. Cipher keys — rare in-game keys that still exist at launch, the best-known being the Dried Flower Knot that unlocks Einherjar Mode boss hunts.

The Gylden Rush event and its ciphers

The Gylden Rush was an exclusive limited-time event that ran during the Open Beta (June 15–22, 2026), per the official press release and the developers’ event posts. Its signature item was the Golden Cipher, with variant ciphers — Mantra, Ancestral, Ashen, and Bloodbound — also part of the same event, as documented by community game-data sites.

  • Getting them: ciphers came from defeating monsters and opening chests. Players did not physically pick them up — if the game rolled one for you, it went straight into your inventory automatically.
  • Using them: you had to successfully extract with the cipher, then take it to the hub town to decipher it at an NPC. Deciphering unlocked from around character level 6.
  • Rewards: decoded ciphers paid out event cosmetics and event currency — the Golden Woodland headpiece was one of the pieces shown — plus bonus loot. Some ciphers also fed into the event’s Bounty Mode identity. The event’s cosmetic shop included the Enlightening Flame outfit.

Are event ciphers still in the game?

No. The Gylden Rush ran only during the Open Beta and ended on June 22, 2026. The ciphers were event items, not part of the full release on July 30 — players who held a pile of them saw the items disappear when the event ended. As of August 2, 2026, there has been no announcement that the Gylden Rush will return; limited events like it may return in a future season, so check the current Season 1 page for what is live now. If you are looking for players still running event content or cipher-key hunts, the Discord & community page collects where that chatter happens.

If you came from beta and expected to cash in ciphers at launch, the beta compensation mail is the relevant item — see Mistfall Hunter Codes for what beta participants actually received.

Cipher keys in the released game

A separate, still-live use of “cipher” is the cipher key item family. The best documented example is the Dried Flower Knot:

  • What it is: a Legendary cipher key found through Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde exploration or the Auction House (per community coverage of the in-game encyclopedia).
  • What it does: it switches on Einherjar Mode — a high-difficulty state reached within a Chaos Trio match, used for the hardest boss hunts and speedrun events (see How to Beat Bosses).

So while the event ciphers are gone, cipher-key-style items still exist as endgame consumables tied to the toughest content in the game.
