Mistfall Hunter Season 2: Fires of the Past

[!note] Status: teased, undated — as of September 20, 2026. Bellring has confirmed a Season 2 exists and shown a preview list, but has published no start date, no end date for Season 1, and no full feature breakdown. This page collects everything official and marks the rest as unpublished. It is written to be updated the day a date is announced.

Quick answer: Season 2 is the next content season of Mistfall Hunter, teased on August 5, 2026 with the line “Fires of the Past await their rekindling.” The official preview names a new Blackarrow weapon (the Javelin), a new season theme with exclusive gameplay, a season-specific progression system, and “more seasonal content revealed gradually.” There is no release date: Season 1 has no announced end date, and Bellring’s only stated cadence is a press-release description of seasons arriving roughly every three months — a design description, not a schedule.

What Is Confirmed for Season 2?Permalink to this section

Everything official about Season 2 fits in four bullets from the August 5, 2026 roadmap post and the coverage around it:

PreviewStatusDetail
Blackarrow JavelinAnnouncedA new weapon for the Blackarrow class — the archetype originally deferred at launch. Concept art appeared in DevNote #8 on August 20, 2026. See the Javelin page.
New season themeAnnounced, unnamedThe teaser line — “Fires of the Past await their rekindling” — is the only text attached to it.
Exclusive seasonal gameplayAnnounced, undescribedThe same framing Season 1 used for Soul Harvest, which shipped as an in-match ritual rather than a mode.
Season-specific progression systemAnnounced, undescribedDistinct from the Season Tasks board, per the roadmap wording.
Release dateNot publishedNo window of any kind has been given.

The teaser’s own phrasing is deliberately narrative: Fires of the Past is a theme name, not a feature list, and Bellring has not expanded on it since August 5.

What Season 1 Still Owes FirstPermalink to this section

Season 2 is easier to reason about once you look at the announced content still missing from Season 1. As of September 20, 2026, these roadmap items have not shipped:

  • Ancestor Tree — a Hallowgrove random match event, described as mid-season.
  • Golden Woodling — a new monster paired with “an all-new season-exclusive progression system.”
  • Underlord Speed Challenge — a timed Underlord activity rewarding bonus loot from Fern the Woodling.
  • Blackarrow Javelin — listed in the Season 1 roadmap and also previewed as Season 2 content, which is one reason the season boundary is blurry.

That backlog matters for one practical reason: Bellring has never said whether these land before Season 1 ends or roll into Season 2. Any page that puts a date on them is estimating.

When Does Season 2 Start?Permalink to this section

Unpublished. Three data points are worth keeping straight, because they are frequently blurred together:

Sponsored
  1. The press release cadence. Launch coverage describes Mistfall Hunter as a live-service title that grows with new seasons roughly every three months. That is a design intention, and it is where community estimates like “late 2026” come from. It is not a promise, and Bellring has never restated it as a schedule.
  2. DevNote #8 published a seasonal-reset framework — undated. The August 20 developer update explained how seasonal resets will be handled but attached no calendar to it. It is the closest thing to a Season 1 end-date mechanism that exists, and it does not contain a date.
  3. Season 1’s own timing has slipped before. Brandrgarde Solo Mode was announced for “the middle of Season 1 in September” and arrived on September 3; that one shipped early relative to some readings and late relative to others. There is no pattern worth extrapolating from.

If you want a single reliable answer: only a Bellring announcement will date Season 2, and the patch notes plus the update timeline will carry it first.

Should You Keep Grinding Season 1?Permalink to this section

This is the question Season 2 raises, and it has a real answer and an honest non-answer.

What is published: Season Tasks pay out through Pip’s Rare Pouch at 50 tasks and the Legendary Nether Ferry skin at 93, the total ceiling is 152 tasks, and two passes have made those tasks cheaper to complete. No Season 1 end date exists.

What is not published: what carries over. DevNote #8’s reset framework has not been dated or restated close to a season transition, and Bellring has published nothing about Season 1 task progress converting into Season 2 rewards.

The practical read: with no end date and no reset detail, there is no announced deadline to beat — which is also what the studio has said about the grind itself. Keep working toward the rewards you actually want (the pouch at 50 tasks is the cheapest meaningful milestone) and treat everything past that as optional.

What to Watch ForPermalink to this section

Signals that Season 2 is approaching, in the order they normally appear:

Sponsored
  1. A Season 1 end-date announcement on the Steam news hub — Bellring has not published one at any point in Season 1.
  2. An end-of-season event or double-reward weekend — the weekend Combat Supplies loop is explicitly framed as running “until the end of Season 1,” so its final weekend is a marker.
  3. Season 2 naming and trailer beats — the teaser line exists, but no feature deep-dive, cinematic, or date has followed it.
  4. A Javelin mechanics preview — the weapon is the most concrete Season 2 item and already has concept art; a moveset or talent reveal would signal the season is close.

Frequently Asked QuestionsPermalink to this section

When does Mistfall Hunter Season 2 start? No date has been announced. Season 1 has no published end date, and the “roughly every three months” line comes from a press-release description of the game’s seasons, not a schedule.

What is Season 2 called? No season name has been published. The only official text is the teaser — “Fires of the Past await their rekindling.”

What content is confirmed for Season 2? A new Blackarrow Javelin weapon, a new season theme with exclusive gameplay, and a season-specific progression system. Bellring says more seasonal content will be revealed gradually.

Is the Javelin coming in Season 1 or Season 2? Both listings exist. The August 5, 2026 Season 1 roadmap names “New Blackarrow Weapon: Javelin,” and the Season 2 preview also lists it. Bellring has not resolved which season ships it first — see the Javelin page.

Will Season 1 progress reset when Season 2 starts? Unpublished. DevNote #8 described a seasonal-reset framework without dating it, and no carry-over rules for Season 1 task progress have been announced.

Is Season 2 free? Unpublished. Season 1’s battle pass, the Slumbering Contract, was free and unlocked after seven days of cumulative logins, but Bellring has not described Season 2’s monetisation.
