Mistfall Hunter Bosses

Bosses in Mistfall Hunter are high-power enemies that carry unique mechanics, dangerous attacks, valuable rewards, and special strategies. They sit on the PvE side of the game’s PvPvE extraction loop: beating one is a high-risk, high-reward play, but the loot only counts if you still manage to extract with it. Bellring Games has not named a single “final boss” — instead, the marquee encounters are grouped into a category of powerful Mist Lords that guard the richest treasure in the ruins.

Boss Types

Mist Lords

Mist Lords are boss-tier guardians that protect the most valuable loot across the ruins. Community coverage and developer announcements describe them as set-piece fights built for coordinated teams, and the studio has said the most reliable route to top-tier equipment is defeating Mist Lords on the hardest difficulty. Named Mist Lord encounters in the current game include:

Underlords

Underlords are powerful monsters of the Corroded that occupy specific areas in Chaos mode. Red zones on the map mark their territories, and each one is fought as a timed challenge behind a barrier. See Underlord for the full breakdown.

Named and Two-Phase Bosses

  • Sálmar, the Cursed Moonwane — a two-phase boss in Hallowgrove’s Divine Anchor, the “False God” born from the failed god-making experiments of the Prayer of the Moon (Soul Experiment). Community guides added the encounter during Open Beta 3.
  • The Prayer of the Moon — the missing Brandrgarde priestess at the heart of the soul experiments; hunters face her through the Cursed Moonwane encounter in Hallowgrove Chaos.

Elite Mini-Bosses

A tier below the named bosses, elite mini-bosses and area bosses are much stronger than common monsters and often force players to prioritize them before dealing with surrounding foes. Community bestiary documentation lists these across Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde:

Mini-bossTypeNotes
WardenElite / mini-bossCorrupted jailer wielding a heavy double-headed pillory; ranged bone-spur attacks.
Fungus MatronMini-boss / area bossStationary fungal creature blocking paths with violet spore clouds; retreats underground when hurt.
Foul Hound AlphaPack leaderLeads hound packs; focusing it first breaks the pack’s coordination.
Tyrannical ExecutionerMobile bossFormer Brandrgarde prison warden, now relentlessly hunting intruders.
Brandrgarde CaptainMobile bossDisciplined swordsman who punishes careless attacks.
Greataxe BerserkerEliteHeavy long-handled axe with wide reach; lunges across distances.
Elite BerserkerEliteFully Gyldenized; its roar damages nearby players and it hurls its axe.
Frenzied WizardElite mageIce magic; shattering its ice clone freezes players who stand too close.
Elite StrawerEliteWoven creature with unnaturally long reach; tougher versions command crows.
Twinblade Warrior StatueElite / ambushDormant hero-statue that ambushes careless hunters.
Prison Guard & NightwatcherPatrolBarbed pole-spears and chain flails; the hook attack can leave you helpless.

Difficulty Modes

Most named boss encounters support Normal and Chaos difficulty, and the game’s toughest hunts run in Einherjar Mode — a high-difficulty state reached within a Chaos Trio match and switched on with a Dried Flower Knot (per community coverage of the in-game encyclopedia). Developer announcements point to Cataclysm difficulty as the place where Mist Lords yield the best gear in the game.

Boss Rewards

Developer announcements say the best rewards in the game come from defeating powerful PvE bosses, and holy weapons — a top weapon tier with exclusive gameplay affixes — drop from map bosses, with each boss offering its own unique weapon. Rewards only count once you extract: community documentation notes that a barrier forms around the challenge zone when a boss enters combat, shielding the fight from interruption, but the sound of battle can still draw rival hunter teams.
